[Jump to pictures] I just enjoyed a fabulous day shooting with the lovely Estella Rose. I hadn’t realised until we started shooting this is her first proper studio shoot. But she rose to the challenge beautifully. Frankly if she hadn’t told me, then I would never have known.
For Estella Rose is a very bright, classy, natural-looking young woman, with a tall slim but perfectly hourglass figure, long naturally wavy brunette hair that catches in the breeze and long, long legs that seem to go on forever. She also has elegant posture, and a tiny little waist.
Strong vintage look
From our perspective here at waist.it she is the perfect vintage model. Firstly, she has a very fresh, natural, timeless look. She also has good understanding of the vintage genre. In fact, she came equipped with a massive bag full of vintage-style costumes of her own. Amongst her many costumes she brought her own little black shapewear dress. Regular visitors here will know that particularly enjoy working with models who invest in their own shapewear collections.
Her overall look was very authentic. Often she really looked like she looked as if she had just stepped-off the set of a 1940’s Hollywood movie. And the proverbial “cherry on the cake” insofar as my style of work is concerned, she has no tattoos. None. Not even a small one!
She is also a very thoughtful, considerate person and her pre-shoot communications are excellent. On-set, she oozes enthusiasm and energy. In fact, it was quite hard to keep up with her at times. Our six hour shoot overran by a over an hour. I have absolutely no idea where the time went. It whizzed by in what seemed more like about twenty minutes. But we did manage to try lots of costumes, all of which looked very good on her.
Her mother attended the shoot as a chaperone, and turned-out to be a very interesting person too. Importantly, she gave her daughter a lot of encouragement and additional confidence.
Pictures
There are two versions of Estella Rose’s pictures: [colour|monochrome] – the monochrome version attempts to emulate 1960’s Ilford FP4 black and white film.
(N.B. monochrome images are on gallery page 2.)
Lovely model, lovely person and I look forward to working with her again.
Pictures of Estella Rose by other photographers
I very recently had the pleasure of working with Waist.it for a retro fitness shoot. Photographer Garf and studio assistant Susannah were very courteous, especially kind and respectful of boundaries with modesty comfortability with selecting outfits. We got through a lot of different outfits in the time and ended up running an hour later than planned for the all-day shoot as I think we all lost track of time and were absorbed in the colourful creative vision. They were considerate and gracious hosts of the mosts, frequently checking in with comfort in each outfit with them being style-wise very tight-fitting for the era, how I felt about trying on the different pinup style outfits for retro fitness, break, tea, and they were very accommodating and gave me some great direction and transparency about what they were looking for. I particularly enjoyed having my mum there to chaperone/makeup assistant/team up with Susannah for that woman’s eye for noticing the important details.
Waist.it have a very keen eye for detail and are very specific with what they are after with posing/posture/clothing fit etc. as with retro it is all about the fine details and having excellent posture. I think you need a woman’s eye for fine-tuning those details/colour coordination, Garf and Susannah together make a creat creative team. I learned a lot from the shoot, it was very professional/home studio setting, I very much enjoyed creatively collaborating with outfit and pose and prop ideas. Waist.it are very knowledgeable about the history of the time period I was modelling for which I found intriguing and very clear about their objectives for the look and overall feel of the shoot. I was particularly impressed with the transparent communication and thoroughly detailed shoot plan for each set objective, lat flow test request and expectations. This was my first time modelling vintage shapewear/beach/pinup/Audrey-Hepburn shoot and I really appreciate their openness to my suggestions to my ideas. They have invested a lot of time and effort into preparing the studio for models: private changing area, chaperone policy, costumes, planning, props etc. It was an absolute delight and I really enjoyed the experience, you have a lot of fun combining outfits you bring and the costumes provided.
I’m really glad you enjoyed it. We should start organising a second shoot. Hopefully we’ll have some warmer weather shortly, and perhaps do a few snaps outside too?
Delighted to start organising the next shoot, looking forward to sharing ideas.
Best Wishes,
Estella Rose
