This was our first vintage pinup/fitness shoot with Abbie. She is a petite and very beautiful girl and a very nice person to work with too. In fact, I am not sure she realises just how good she is.

She was chaperoned by her fianceé Matt, who turned out to be a very patient and pleasant chap. I hope to see them both again for "Retro-Fitness-Pinup Shoot, Version 2" perhaps sometime over hers Easter break.

Enjoyed an amazingly productive 6-hour vintage fitness pinup shoot with Dawsie. Whilst this genre was new to her, she took to it very quickly. The task was made easier by the fact she is physically fit and has a lovely hourglass figure. Nevertheless, we worked her quite hard. But she managed to make even complex and difficult poses look natural and easy - though I suspect she probably had some aching muscles afterwards!

The shoot comprised of a series of sets that would deploy a mix of posture, camera angle and corsetry to make a modern girl's figure look vintage. And it all had to be done with a sense of irony and fun. The transformation from modern to vintage and working to achieve that classic hourglass vintage shape is always half the fun of working with someone who has not done vintage before. And she definitely injected a sense of fun into the shoot - which is always our prime objective in any sort of pinup.

We had a fabulous day-long retro pinup/fitness shoot with Kirsten-Ria. With her fabulous hourglass figure, tiny waist and big blue eyes, Kirsten is the vintage photographer’s dream. She also has lovely posture, which she can use to great effect in a vintage shoot such as this.

Turns out she is also a keen and talented photographer too and has the benefit of being familiar with both sides of the camera.

She was chaperoned by her mum, who turned out to be a professional hairdresser – and a darned good one too. She was able to make Kirsten’s luscious thick locks look perfect for the part. All in all it was a wonderful day and the images rather speak for themselves.

A selection of our various vintage costumes.

Fantastic test pinup shoot with the lovely Leonie Tidy. She approached me a few days ago asking to do a vintage/pinup shoot. As chance would have it, I had a last minute cancellation this weekend and Leonie kindly stepped in.

They say that good things often come in small packages. Well in Leonie’s case, never a truer word has been spoken. She is a lovely-looking girl with a slim petite figure, thick natural hair that catches the light, and a tiny little waist that is simply exquisite for the corsetry that often goes with vintage/pinup.

Whilst vintage/pinup and the whole retro-fitness thing was new to her, she was very keen to learn. In fact, she set about the task with much energy and enthusiasm. She also has a wicked sense of humour and turned out to be thoroughly nice person to work with.

Only trouble was that our six hour shoot shot past in what seemed about twenty minutes! So we only got though a fraction of the costumes we picked out for her. But no matter. The outfits we did have time to try looked wonderful on her. We also hope this will be the first of many shoots – so that we will have a chance to try loads more costumes next time.

Relatively unplanned shoot with the lovely Jacquelin Hyde. I was introduced to Jacqueline by Steiner Lund - a mutual friend and talented musician who had come over to use my studio for one of his projects.

Well Jacqui was a lovely model and I hoe we'll see her back here in the studio again one day.

A superb shoot with the aptly-named “Leggy Alicia”. Alicia really is 180cm of leggy gorgeousness, with slim but shapely pins that seem to go on forever. She also has lovely posture and a truly hourglass figure, with a concave waist some 25cm smaller than her hips.

She also enjoys experimenting with corsets and has a figure that responds beautifully to corseting. So, being moulded, squeezed and laced into unyielding corsetry did not faze her at all. In fact, she rather seemed to enjoy it. This is great for vintage work because, as we all know, one of life’s little ironies is that vintage foundation wear always looks best on girls that don’t really need it. ;-)

She also works hard to get a shot just right, both at the shoot itself and beforehand researching her poses and costumes. Yet she still adds a real sense of fun to the shoot too, with a smile that lights up the room. All of which makes Alicia absolutely perfect for vintage pinup.

This lady is what they would call a “class act” stateside – beautiful girl, lovely person and very highly recommended model.

Very productive all-day shoot with Olive. As well as being absolutely stunning, she captured the sense of fun and general all-round silliness of the vintage pin-up genre with perfect precision. Even better for my style of work, she has no tattoos. None! Not even a small one!

After brief discussion, we decided to use some experimental LED continuous lighting instead of conventional studio flash. Seems Olive likes trying new stuff as much as I do. We mixed this with “old school” filters, which all dovetailed nicely with Olive’s talents in a way that I could never have predicted. On top of that, she brought some of her beautiful corsets with her that looked amazing.

Unfortunately, the day flew past in what seemed more like about twenty minutes and we ran out of time to do all the costumes we had planned. Hopefully we will pick up where we left off in our next shoot. :-)

Fabulous figure, great sense of humour, delightful to work with and highly recommended.

Jaqueline Hyde experimental shoot - my second Shoot with the lovely Jaqueline Hyde

First dedicated fitness and figure-control shoot with the lovely Leonie Tidy

Enjoyed an absolutely amazing retro-fitness and pinup corsetry shoot with the lovely Amanda. This lady is what our transatlantic cousins would describe as a “class act“. Pre-shoot comms was excellent. Turned up on time, make-up and hair ready to shoot. And she had actually read the shoot-plan too!

The really great thing about Amanda is that she loves retro/vintage and understands the genre well. She also has the “sense of fun” and irony that successful realisation of the genre requires.

To carry off the look, she has long blonde hair that catches the light beautifully, a fabulous “vintage-friendly” figure with curves in all the right places and a smile that truly lights up the room – along with big blues smiling eyes to match. IMHO. she is really is perfect for this style of work.

Only trouble was that our 7 hour shoot shot past in what seemed about 15 minutes. Fortunately for me, Amanda is only a few km down the road. and she has vowed to return for “retro-fitness and pinup corsetry v2.0” in the very near future.

Second shoot with the delightful half-Norwegian Dollybrd. This time we decided to do something a little different and lit her using !00% LED. Even more different, for the first set we used just a bundle of Kensington LED Flylights.

Dedicated vintage style fitness and figure control shoot wit the delightful JaySeaW

Second dedicated fitness and figure-control shoot with the lovely Leonie Tidy

Vintage Pinup shoot with the lovely Esme Shard

A splendid shoot with the delightful Marta last Saturday. Now Marta is a lovely, friendly, smiley sort of girl with a delightfully curvy figure that is perfect retro vintage. She is also a very good model, who works very hard to achieve the desired look. She also brings a great sense of fun to the shoot.

Our shoot ran for nearly 7 hours. But it seemed like about twenty minutes. In which time, Marta completed four gruelling sets, including a retro fitness set and another set in ludicrously high heels and a very tightly-laced Vollers corset. Unfortunately we ran out of time to try all the available costumes. But hopefully we will se here back in the studio again some day.

Had the pleasure of working with the lovely Ajara. With her slim elegant figure and her keen fashion sense, she is a delight to work with.

She brought her friend and fellow fashion student Laura Toy as chaperone, who also turned out to be a talented model too. I was lucky enough to get some lovely snaps of them both working together. Their interaction really gave the shoot a great sense of fun that I wasn't expecting

Solo or working with another model, Ajara is superb and I very much look forward to our next shoot.

Had the pleasure of meeting and briefly working with the lovely Roseviolet today. She was working with photographer StefL on a cyber-themed shoot at his West Chlitington studio. RoseViolet is a beautiful girl with seemingly endless patience and it is clear why she has so many excellent references form other photographers.

Having spent most of the day being body painted, and then working with Stef on his ideas, she patiently sat there for another hour or so as we wrapped her in Kensington LED Flylights c/w gaffer tape. Then it was out with the smoke machine and a miscellany of props, corsets, LED's, Cokin filters. Brilliant fun! And throughout all this insanity, she remained totally unfazed.

A fabulous shoot with the lovely bundle of enthusiasm that is ZoeCharlotte. I subsequently learned that this was her first time in a studio though I would never have believed it. She turned up on time, well-prepared, with a bag of outfits to add to the shoot. She posed and took direction well and really enjoyed experimenting with new technology. She also has a perfect vintage figure and a really good sense of fun which comes across on camera beautifully.

I'm always a bit concerned about boyfriends as chaperones. But James was a nice guy. Helped when needed. Stayed out of the way when not needed. And it seems he is an even bigger LED fan than I am! All in all, a thoroughly good day's shooting. Only trouble was it whizzed by so fast and we didn't have time to try all the outfits we hoped. However, they tell me they are in my part of the world fairly frequently. So I hope we we'll see them here for another shoot in the very near future.

A truly fabulous shoot with the lovely Laura Toy. I originally met Laura she acted as chaperone for another model. We got on well and she actually joined in the shoot with her friend. Her friend was a bit nervous about the shoot but Laura soon put the other model at her ease. This meant the shoot ran much better.

This time I had Laura all to my self. She is an amazing girl. Bright bubbly ,helpful. She has a beautiful smile and a lovely figure. She is just the right shape for squeezing into the nice tight foundationwear and corsetry that we enjoy so much here at waist.it HQ. She loves the vintage genre and nothing seems to much trouble for her.

A very pleasant and informative visit to Stef's West Chiltington studio, located in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside. As well as the studio itself, his place also boasts a beautiful garden setting and views overlooking the magnificent South Downs.

The studio has motorised backdrops and plenty of lighting - as well as other interesting gismos that kept us amused for the afternoon. There is also a really nice changing area for the models, a kitchen and separate toilet facilities for photographers. All very classy! Stefan Lilley's studio day

Local model and fashion designer Ajara Leigh. Wanted some snaps of her latest creation. So over she came with a friend called Becky. We were later joined by another new model Jazz Wrann.

A thoroughly excellent "mini" shoot with the lovely Jazz. Only our mini shoot actually ended up longer than many of my full-length ones! Smile That's because Jazz is a highly addictive model and time just flies by in her company. She really is delightful to work with - keen, classy and absolutely stunning - with lovely posture and a smile that lights up the room.

She is also a talented street dancer with plans to study ballet too. Consequently she moves beautifully and is able to create very dramatic poses, whilst placing herself with millimetric precision. With her blonde hair and big blue eyes, some of her poses remind me of a young Kylie Minogue. But she also has a more-than-passing resemblance to a young Nicole Kidman too - which can never be bad.

Turns out she loves vintage costumes, especially the corsetry - which looks remarkably good on her tiny but shapely figure. As if that were not enough, we then discover her boyfriend lives just around the corner and that she is a regular visitor to these environs. So we are already picking costumes and making plans for our next shoot - which cannot happen soon enough for my liking.

Enjoyed a splendid shoot with the lovely Kerry. She arrived on the dot, all ready to shoot. Her pre-shoot communications were excellent. She is a very beautiful girl, with a lovely smile and an equally lovely slim figure.

She is also a keen and enthusiastic model, open to new ideas and able to contribute good ideas of her own. And her fabulous figure is complimented by her extensive dance skills.

Kerry is also a very pleasant and considerate person, and great fun to work with. Consequently, the time simply flew by. Which meant that unfortunately we did not have time to try all the costumes we planned. However, we hope to organise another shoot in the near future.

Jazz Wrann and Laura Toy together for a fitness pinup shoot where they emulate an old style deportment and fitness class.

A fabulous pinup shoot with the lovely BeckiLavender AKA BeckiLouise. Whilst this genre was new to her, she took to it very quickly. The task was made easier by the fact she is a physically-fit former gymnast with a lovely hourglass figure.

The shoot comprised of a series of sets that would deploy a mix of posture, camera angle and corsetry to make a modern girl’s figure look vintage. And it all had to be done with a sense of irony and fun. The transformation from modern to vintage and working to achieve that classic hourglass vintage shape is always half the fun of working with someone who has not done vintage before. And she definitely injected a sense of fun into the shoot – which is always our prime objective in any sort of pinup.

The proverbial cherry on the cake was the fact she brought her wonderful mermaid costume. With the addition of some wacky lighting and a fog machine we had enormous fun with this. All in all it was a wonderful session and I cannot wait for our next shoot.

Had a fantastic all-day shoot with the gorgeous Ali Soriano. As well as being absolutely stunning and very hard-working, she is able to capture the sense of fun and general all-round silliness of the vintage pin-up genre with perfection.

Her physical fitness means that she is able to place herself with millimetric precision. Even better for my style of work, she has no tattoos. None! Not even a small one! In fact, she is what our transatlantic cousins would describe as a truly “class act”. We used a mix of her sportswear and our vintage corsetry – a blend that worked beautifully on her slim but shapely figure. She is also blessed with an absolutely electric smile, which she deployed to perfection for this shoot.

Unfortunately, the day flew past in what seemed more like about twenty minutes – so we ran out of time to try all the costumes we had planned. Hopefully we will pick up where we left off in our next shoot.Friendly personality, fabulous figure, delightful to work with and very highly recommended.

Tall, slim model from Purpleport with a tiny waist, a delightful retro look and legs that seem to go on forever. She also has beautiful big blue eyes, a clear complexion and excellent posture, which all adds to her authentic vintage look.

She really is the perfect “clotheshorse” for vintage foundationwear and corsetry we use in our vintage/pinup shoots. All in all, a very enjoyable and productive shoot.

Though she is a relatively new model, I had a feeling that Gina would be good. But she was way better than expected. In fact she was superb. She seemed to understand the vintage genre perfectly and looked fabulous in a corset. She had also taken the trouble to read the shoot plan and research the look before the shoot.

She is a very hard-working girl, with a lovely slim figure, big blue eyes and legs that go on forever. And the proverbial cherry on the cake, she has no tattoos. Not even a small one.

Fabulous vintage/fitness shoot with the lovely Shannon and her equally lovely mum, Heydi. Now Shannon is a truly delicious model with a fabulous figure and legs that seem to go on for ever. She also lovely thick rich hair that catches the light, big brown eyes and a smile that lights up the room - not to mention a flat tummy and tiny little corset-friendly waist that is perfect for vintage work. Her pre-shoot comms were excellent and she is hard working lass, who took the trouble to read the shoot plan. She was also a photography student with a good understanding of both sides of the camera.

She was chaperoned by her mum, Heydi. Turns out that a few years back, Heydi was a model too. With very little persuasion she stepped in front of the camera as well. It was instantly apparent where Shannon gets her good looks and modelling skills. They each took turns directing each other, on camera, in what turned out to be one of the best mother-daughter shoots I have ever done. And Shannon had a bash behind the camera too, shooting her mum.

This is a bunch of pictures taken during a splendid vintage/pinup shoot with Jana. Now Jana is a friendly, smiley but very perceptive sort of girl, with a delightfully curvy figure that is perfect retro vintage. She has beautiful big brown eyes and long naturally-wavy red hair that catches the wind and the light beautifully. She is also a very competent model, who enjoys her work and tries very hard to achieve the desired look, whilst bringing a great sense of fun to the shoot.

Our shoot ran for nearly 7 hours. But it seemed like about twenty minutes. In which time, Jana completed three sets, including an excellent retro fitness set and a "showgirl set" c/w fog machine and moody lights. Her final costume consisted of a very tightly-laced Vollers overbust corset, black vintage girdle and ludicrously high heels. This costume is difficult enough to breathe in, let alone move! But she gave a truly stunning performance - making it all look so fun and natural and easy.

This was a very enjoyable and productive shoot with the lovely Chelskii and waist.it regular Laura Toy. Chelskii has a delightfully fresh, natural, "girl next door" look, with her blonde hair and big blue eyes. She also has a figure that responds beautifully to old style foundationwear and corsetry, making her perfect for vintage work. And even better, she has and absolutely no tattoos! Not even a small one!

Chelskii is a very level-headed, determined and hard-working sort of girl. She sailed through our six hour shoot with ease. As well as being her first shoot with me. it was also her first shoot with another model.

The idea was that they supervised and assisted each other copying each other poses, doing old style fitness and deportment exercises, lacing up corsets, etc. Chelskii immediately took to working with Laura, and went about the shoot in a true spirit of friendship and cooperation. The shoot had a wonderful vibe and I am delighted with the results.

All in all, Chelskii is a delight and I very much look forward to working with her again. In fact I already have a project in mind.
